This website is an experiment in collaborative media creation!
A set of tools have been created and made available for community media practitioners to profile their organizations and their work. If you are one, please feel free to add your organization to our database. If your organization is already listed, you can make changes to it, if you like.
There are some inaccuracies in the data, especially in the geo-location data (latitude and longitude information). Help us improve it, if you can.
Add a community media organization to our database. You can edit the profile by clicking on the 'Edit this record' on the profile page.
All forms of critique and feedback are welcome.
A working definition for now (help improve it, if you can): Any form of media that is created and controlled by a community, either a geographic community or a community of identity will be featured on the site while commercial media, state run media, or public broadcastars will not find a place here.
This project will aspire to be as inclusive as possible, without defeating the original premise.
This website has no ambition to be the final arbiter of who is 'community media' and who is not. Perahps the community itself will decide! But we will need to wait and see how it pans out...
